Event Overview
The Hinase Lantern Night Market, which was a huge hit last year, is back this year!
In response to your feedback, we are pleased to present a special nighttime event that makes full use of Nissei’s beautiful seaside and the area in front of the station.
From LED sky lanterns that light up the night sky to photogenic lighting displays (artistic lighting) that make the most of Nissei’s unique setting, a magical world unfolds—perfect for creating lasting memories as summer comes to a close.
At the venue, we’ve prepared a variety of events, including a food stall village featuring Hinase’s finest culinary offerings, the traditional “Hinase Bon Odori” dance, a thrilling taiko drum performance, and a festival with activities that children will enjoy.
With your loved ones, your family, or even on your own.
Why not spend the end of summer in Nissei with us and enjoy it with all five senses?
We look forward to seeing you all at the exhibition.

Event Details
LED Sky Lantern
The highlight of the Hinase Lantern Night Market is the LED sky lantern. These eco-friendly lanterns do not use fire and can be retrieved; you can draw text or illustrations on the lantern body, and they light up using LEDs. They come with a string so they can be retrieved. This year, to alleviate crowding at the venue and ensure a smooth exchange process, purchases of sky lanterns will be limited to advance sales via our online reservation site. While same-day sales will be available, quantities are limited, so we encourage you to purchase in advance.
Since reservations are limited to a certain number per time slot, if you’d like to enjoy a special evening with your loved ones or family from the best seats in the house, please be sure to make your reservation as soon as possible.
Hinase Traditional Bon Dance
During the Showa era, the Bon Odori dance was once a summer tradition in the Hinase district. For Hinase residents, the Bon Odori on August 14 and 15 was something to look forward to after the fireworks display on August 13. Remarkably, the Hinase Bon Odori was revived in Reiwa 7 for the first time in 30 years. To coincide with the 2nd Hinase Lantern Night Market in Reiwa 8, we’ll be dancing again this year. Whether young or old, male or female, let’s all dance to the “Hinase Ondo” and “Hinase Kouta”!
Hinase Jinkuro Taiko
"Hisei Jinkuro Taiko," deeply rooted in Hisei Town, carries on the region's traditional culture to this day.
The powerful energy poured into every single beat and the breathtaking sound of the Japanese taiko drums, which resonates deep in your gut, instantly captivate the audience and bring the venue’s excitement to a fever pitch. A passionate, intense, and traditional performance echoing across the seaside at dusk. Don’t miss this dynamic, spectacular performance—the perfect prelude to the “Hinase Bon Odori” that’s about to begin!
100 Bizen-yaki "Corridor of Light"
In a corner of the night market, where a pleasant sea breeze blows through, a magical art space will appear—just for tonight. “Bizen-yaki” is a traditional craft with a history spanning a thousand years. Amid the warmth of the clay—each piece unique—and its rustic texture, 100 lampshades housing tiny LED lights will be lined up, creating a beautiful path of light. [The Bizen-yaki pieces were already created for the Hinase Oyster Festival held in June. Please see below for pickup details.]
Bizen ware, fired without any glaze—using only the vitality of the flames and the clay—transforms its rugged yet delicate appearance as light passes through it, casting a soft, golden glow upon the floor. Please enjoy this special corridor, woven from tradition and light, that can only be experienced here.
Until I give you a lantern.

During your reserved time slot, you can enjoy the entire experience—from creating your one-of-a-kind lantern to launching it into the sky.

After that, please hand your lantern to a staff member. We will hold your lantern on the first floor until 7:00 PM, when it will be returned to you. Please feel free to enjoy yourself until then. We will make an announcement at the venue shortly before 7:00 PM to notify you that it is time to pick up your lantern. -
